James Pearl has spent his entire life around horses. Growing up in Nevada, he made Northern Colorado home in 1989 when he moved with his wife Claudia—his high school sweetheart—and their two children. Shortly after, he ran Sno-Cap Stables in Livermore, which he owned and operated for over 15 years.

 

With more than 35 years of experience as a professional farrier, James has worked with horses across Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada and California building a reputation for his expertise, care, and deep love for the animals. He’s also shared that passion with the community—teaching horsemanship merit badges to local Boy Scouts and giving beginner and intermediate riding lessons over the years.

 

James knows the region well, especially when it comes to trail riding. He’s a great resource for anyone looking to explore the nearby Roosevelt National Forest and other scenic riding areas.

 

Today, he continues to care for horses with the same hands-on approach, offering reliable, friendly boarding at Gateway Stables in Laporte. Whether you’re new to horses or a seasoned rider, you’ll find James approachable, knowledgeable, and always happy to share a story or tip.
